Alone on a Friday nite

A couple of weeks ago, my company had a trip to Pangkor Island (much nicer than dodo island). Decided to join it. Left at around 7am on a Saturday morning. We had a ferry at 11 am to catch, with a stop for breakfast along the way. After a brief stop, we decided to put the pedal to the metal (we’re running out of time). Using rural back roads, speeds of above 170km/h was not uncommon. I was in a convoy of 4 cars, and we managed to make it with 5 minutes to spare. Anyway, here’s a  pic I took of Pangkor.

My company also had a lucky draw event there, where the first prize was an LCD tv. Before the trip, I remember mentioning to some of my collegues that I didn’t want the LCD tv, but I dont mind getting the Ikea vouchers. And guess what, I did get the Ikea vouchers, all RM 1000 bux of it! Woohoo. But now, I dont have the faintest idea of what to get.

So, the next weekend, I was off to Ikea with a friend, and here are some of the items I considered.

Bad Dodo

It’s been a while that I’ve updated. Been busy with my job, late nights (sometimes up to 4am), and a general lack of things to write. Anyway, just came back from dinner at Curve with a friend, who shall remain nameless at this point in time (you know who you are). I’ve always said that I would like to try a ciggy at least once before I die, and tonight, I did. Twice. Haha.

Anyway, met up with Pev in Ikano after dinner. I’ve been looking for a camera lately, my current one is approaching 4 years old, and I need to replace it. Been looking at the Canon S5 (costs RM 1.8k at launch). Saw it priced at 1.3k last week in 1U, but Pev called me up and said they are selling it cheaper in Ikano (some promo by Harvey Norman). So I got my self this, for RM 1199, witha huge tripod, 4GB card, screen protector and 2 bags. Retail therapy, works everytime.

Been rather busy lately, and then Irealized that Ihaven’t updated my blog since last year! lol. Anyway, pics of CNY coming soon. This year, as it has been for the past few years, went house hopping with my friends back in Malacca, and as usualy, we will be playing some blackjack, just for the fun of it. Past few years, I have been on a winning streak, but this year decided to pass the job of being the banker to my friend. So far, I made about RM 20. Gonna continue agian this weekend. Wish me luck!

Eye on Malaysia

On the 11th of December, it was a public holiday where I work. So decided to visit the giant ferris wheel located in Titiwansa Lake Gardens. Called Eye on Malaysia, it was specially constructed for Visit Malaysia 2007, and also because of our 5oth independence. Since they are going to take it down at the end of the year, I had better go and check it out before it was too late. Been wanting to visit since I’ve heard of it, but can’t find the time/company. Anyway, this is how it looked liked at night.

I went there during the day, had lunch first, then left PJ at about 12.30pm. Took me about 2 hours just to get to the place, due to the stupid police blocking the roads and causing massive jams. Apparently, some ppl wanted to hand over some memorandum to the Parliment, so the cops blocked the roads leading to there. I took a pic of the jams, somewhere in Damansara Heights.

Anyway, got to Titiwangsa in one place. My first time to the place, basically a huge lake surrounded by parks.

This is how the ferris wheel look like in the day

You can see the Petronas twin towers in the background.

Tickets costs RM 15 for adults, and for that, you get a 15 minute ride, basically 4 spins around it. From the top, you can view the whole of KL city centre. I even managed to see Batu Caves, which is about 7 km away.

Just incase anyone decides to install a giant ferris wheel in their backyard, you can contact this guy.

After we were done, the heavens opened up. Well, all I can say is that I was expecting something more, but at least I can say I’ve been there, done that.

Getting Older

The last few hours of being 23. By 12 am tonight, i’ll turn 24. It felt like just yesterday I was celebrating my 23rd birthday. Wish I could say that it’s been great year for me, but overall, it was ok. Changed my job, met new people, made new friends, calmed down alot when I’m driving, learned alot of new roads in and around PJ/KL, the usual. Still skinny as always, and getting grumpier by the day. Most people who know me say that I’m always a happy person, always smiling. Well, lately that does not seem to be the case, maybe it’s the new job with it’s new challenges. Anyway, I hope next year will be a better year for me.
